A:  Thank you for your question Larry, the width of the seat is 14 3/4" and the base is 11 1/2" wide. There should not be a problem fitting in a standard size tub as the bath lift can be moved around to keep the base from being inside the bevels as long as the transfer flap is several inches on the side of the bath tub to support the weight of the individual.

Q: Can Epsom salt or other bath therapy products be used with the bath lift ? - Mrs. Rose

A: Bath Therapy products such as Epsom salt can be used with the bath lift.  While they will not affect the bath lift itself, products such as bath oils and moisturizers are not recommended as they tend to leave a residue on the bottom of the bath tub which can cause the suction cups to slide along the bottom of the bath tub. "Skin So Soft " should never be used as this will turn the suction cups into jelly after a few uses.

If bath oils and moisturizers have been uses in the bath tub, we recommend cleaning the bottom of the tub with plain "Joy - Non Ultra" Dish soap to remove any residue which will affect the bath lift suction cups from adhering to the bottom of the tub . Joy soap is used to strip the wax from show cars prior to re-waxing or other conditioning of the car body surface.

Q: How difficult is the Bathmaster Deltis Bath Lift To Use ? - Leisa

A: Deltis Bath lifts are pretty simple to use. When in the raised position, the seat will over lap the out side lip of the bath tub. The user simply sits on the bath lift with their legs outside the bath tub, rotate their legs into the bath tub, center themselves on the seat (if the individual has difficulty centering themselves in the bath lift we recommend a bath lift with a swivel transfer seat, such as the Bathmaster Deltis Swivel Transfer combo) and push a button or lever which will lower them into the water. The bath tub can be filled before (preferable for comfort) or after the lift is lowered. When the bath is finished, the user uses the button/lever to lift the bath lift to the raised position, the user swings their legs out and stands or transfers to a wheelchair.

One thing to keep in mind is the seat flaps which lay on the side of the tub are supported by the tub wall. If the lift is too high, there is a danger of the flaps breaking off during a transfer. To avoid breakage, the bath lift must be raised to the same height as the side of the bath tub and not higher during transfers.

A: Yes, 19" would be the inside measurement of the tub. Most bathtubs are 23" - 24" from the wall to the outside of the tub. From Transfer flap to transfer flap the width is 27". The transfer flaps are hinged and fold upward as the lift lowers into the tub. The transfer flap on the wall side of the tub will always remain angled up and ride along the side of the tub. The flaps do not add stability to the lift, the flap on the entry/exit side of the tub covers the gap between the bath lift seat and the edge of the tub to transfer out of the lift. This flap must rest level with the edge of the tub to support the weight of the individual using the lift.
